LibRaw, Nikon SDK, and platform differences

Choose a decoder for the task

LibRaw supports linear RAW processing and calibration. Nikon SDK produces rendered RGB and is not used for linear calibration. Some Nikon HE/HE* files require Nikon SDK; unsupported inputs must be rejected explicitly rather than treating every NEF identically.

Device limits

iPad uses LibRaw, without Nikon SDK or proprietary HE/HE* decoding. Desktop SDK availability still depends on the build and runtime environment.

Changes under development

Changes separating application defaults, project preferences, and the actual decoder remain under integration review. They are not documented here as released default behavior; see Updates.
